    A Helping Wind is an infrequent journal about golf's ability to heal the spirit. A player has to consider the wind before hitting any golf shot. When the wind is blowing into his face it will prevent the ball from flying as far as it should, and it's said that the wind is "hurting." But a wind coming from behind a player will give the ball added lift and carry, so it's called a "helping wind." In times of strife I have often found that golf, the game itself, provides a helping wind.
